In the theme of Halloween, a month ago Steam and other platforms released a new game called Phasmophobia. This game gives you an experience where you encounter ghosts, figure out the type with the evidence provided on your journal and earn money when you do.
The types of ghosts you face are Spirits, Shades, Wraiths, Demons, Poltergeists, Jinns, Mares, Phantoms, Yurei, Banshee, Revenants, and an Oni. Certain ghosts you encounter can be easy to handle and figure out, but some may attack and kill instantly.
Although this game is about ghost hunting, it is indeed very scary to play. I for one enjoy horror but just because enjoy it, it does not mean I would not get scared.
I have played several games with my friends and each round it gets complicated to figure out the types of ghost that there is. In fact, I have streamed it on twitch, and viewers would get scared as well.
The computer I played Phasmophobia on is a dell G5 gaming Laptop. One of the latest versions there is.
I also had the opportunity to play on my boy- friend’s gaming PC, but rather playing it on his PC, I played it on VR.
VR is a whole different experience. When I play on my laptop it is scary, but when playing on VR it’s a whole different level of scary. VR stands for Virtual Reality. Basically, you have a big headset that covers your eyes and ears, and along with that you also have 2 sets of controllers which be considered as your “hands” on VR.
VR gives it a much more realistic point of view, which makes you feel like you are in the game. You can imagine how scary it is when you play Phasmophobia or any VR related horror games.
Now, I feel a lot more can be done in the game, especially when you die and your teammates can’t hear you (which I think it’s a cool add-on) but instead of not doing anything and just spectating them, you can help them as much as you can or troll them pretending you’re the ghost. If the game developers can include this, I think it will add more fun to the game.
To give this game a fair rating, I would give it an 8/10.
I would recommend this to anyone that loves horror games and wants to investigate ghosts like you see on TV. Be sure to check the game out!
