[dropcap]A[/dropcap]lthough WrestleMania is most known for the excitement it brings to fans all over the world, it also brings with it conspiracy theories around the pair of superstars that will headline the biggest stage of the night. What are the possible scenarios?
Roman Reigns versus Triple H. This is probably the most obvious matchup and the one that could have the best chance of happening at this year’s Grandest Stage. Some believe that Roman Reigns will retain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at The Royal Rumble and then be abruptly fired by Triple H the next night on WWE Raw. If this is true, WWE can have Reigns compete against Brock Lesnar at Fastlane for a chance to be reinstated and a shot at Triple H’s championship at WrestleMania 32.
This will be an interesting direction for WWE to go in, but the possibility of a career ending match is ridiculous. Not only that, how would Triple H win the title if Roman Reigns had to vacate it? That’s the biggest plot hole in this scenario and it ruins it entirely. [pullquote]Triple H needs to be the last entrant in the Royal Rumble, beat Roman Reigns to win the title and then force Roman Reigns into a possible retirement match at WWE Fastlane.[/pullquote]
For this scenario to work at all, Triple H needs to be the last entrant in the Royal Rumble, beat Roman Reigns to win the title and then force Roman Reigns into a possible retirement match at WWE Fastlane. Not only would this angle make the most sense for Roman Reigns, who The WWE has been desperately trying to shove down fans’ throats ever since last year, it also sets up a very appealing angle to the main event at WrestleMania 32.
Another possibility is to have Reigns face Brock Lesnar in the main event at WrestleMania 32. This one has multiple paths too, as WWE could either keep its World Heavyweight title on Reigns, or have Lesnar decimate him in The Royal Rumble and take the big belt for himself.
Although this would basically set up a rematch between Reigns and Lesnar at WrestleMania 32, it also would not make sense with the feuding that has been going on with Roman Reigns and The McMahon family lately. Lesnar is also a much more popular superstar than Roman Reigns, leading to the possibility that fans won’t be very happy if Reigns walks out the winner at WrestleMania 32.
They could do a twist and have Lesnar win the title at WrestleMania 32, but that doesn’t seem like a very big possibility, especially with how much The WWE has been pushing Reigns this year. It also doesn’t make sense if someone considers the fact that Reigns would only hold the title for four months in this scenario, which would completely render his first title reign a failure.
Lastly, we have Bray Wyatt versus Brock Lesnar.
This is supposed to be WWE’s big swerve to the audience, but it has little to no credibility to stand on. The Wyatt’s haven’t really been heavily pushed this year, making it almost impossible to believe that Wyatt is anywhere near what WWE is looking for in a champion right now and Brock Lesnar versus Bray Wyatt really doesn’t have much appeal to it. Probably, this may happen if Triple H and Roman Reigns still took the main event slot, but it’s really unlikely that WWE would want to go this route.
With that in mind, the best option is definitely Triple H winning The World Heavyweight Championship at The Royal Rumble and holding it until WrestleMania 32. Not only does this scenario help to establish Reigns as a huge underdog heading into the title , it also allows for The WWE to build up more fan support for Reigns along the way.
With that being said, it will be interesting to see one of these scenarios play out over the next couple weeks and hopefully culminate into something that wrestling fans and casual fans will be able to get excited about! Who knows, this might just be the greatest WrestleMania ever.
