Devils deeds
are the things
that we receive.
From first breath
to
inevitable death everything
In between.

til’ his cape
too heavy to wear.
The more she cried
for Superman
the less Clark Kent
could bare.
Atlas shrugged
the weight of the world
until Hercules was through. Impossible to hold world
and
collect apples too.

A deep but dying love sinks
like a captain with his ship.
As the water enters his lungs,
he thinks not of regret,
but rather the joy of sailing.

The sky burns like a million fireflies,
as if the clouds themselves were aflame. Red highlights and pink hues
cascade the horizon and yet
the view more beautiful
is you.

Time passes like the cold crisp breeze of winter while we gather what warmth we can from those who offer.
Even when the sun pushes through the clouds its warmth fails to thaw frozen soil.
So, continue on with chapped lips
in search of better ground.
